Any articles about the borough's music history are to be welcomed, especially if those contributing to them do so in time to save some heritage rather than waiting until it's too late, but I wish Greenford would get an occasional mention. The Who (while playing as the Detours) first gigged with Keith Moon as drummer at the Oldfield Tavern in Greenford Road. Now the site of William Perkins Court it was also a venue for Arthur Brown and Screaming Lord Sutch. The Who also played the Starlite Ballroom in Allendale Road a number of times, as did Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Eric Burdon and Cream. See the "About" section at https://www.facebook.com/SavetheStarliteGreenford for a longer list. The Greenford Granada, now Tesco, hosted the Rolling Stones twice. I'd also like to see more interest taken in Southall's part in the UK's music heritage because I suspect gigs were also played there by big names in the early days. It was also significant later on in the development of UK reggae and punk. If anyone reading this can fill in some gaps about Southall and Greenford I'd like to hear from them: positivegreenford@hotmail.co.uk
