cyber attack

This evening while sipping my coffee in a coffee shop, i looked around and saw that every single person either were busy texting on their phone, others were using their ipads or laptops.Then sitting on the 65 bus, every person left right front back all had their mobile phones and were checking their facebook, emails, etc.I was the only person without such gadget and I was simply watching them and looking out the window.Next time you go out, observe this.Tis a shame that people cannot live without their gadgets. How much more meaningful their lives could be.

I'll say a word in their (my!) defence.  I don't think it's right to conclude that people's lives are emptier as a result of using mobile devices.  I find it much easier these days to keep in touch with people than ever before - so if anything, it's had the opposite effect.  I'm enjoying an ongoing exchange of messages with old friends I haven't seen for years, playing Scrabble with people hundreds of miles away, and so on.I'm not even sure about the idea that people are less attached to their local communities either - Facebook sites like Northfields Friends are very popular, and can be compared to a Parish notice board that you have permanent access to.  Agreed that talking to strangers is less likely, but as a previous poster has commented, there never was much of that anyway!That's how I see it anyway.

Yes, but is was quieter without the "I'M ON THE BUS" shouts the obviously deaf person that all who use their mobiles on the bus call.

Well, I suppose it is better than them all sitting on the bus in stony faced silence trying to avoid each other's gaze which is what went before the cyber 'revolution'.

Hardly a 'cyber attack' in the true sense but I do know what you mean.We live, supposedly, in a connected world, it's a shame that such 'connections serve to isolate many from real world connections.
