Private swimming pool ?

I have an illness called lipo lymphedema and I have been advised to exercise in a swimming pool.  Because of the illness my legs are extremely swollen with diseased fat and disfigured so I am not very keen to go to a public pool or a gym and so wondered if anybody knew of a private pool I could hire a couple of days a week. I would be very respectful and pay for the use.  Any suggestions?

Check EDEN FITNESS as I do see some types of 'cover' swimwear worn in there and they have fantastic aqua classes mid-week and also steam room and a quiet solarium.  It can be very relaxing there and is a total cross-mix of mad fitness fanatics and little old people and no one would dream of judging another person as it is a private club and so we are already friends just by being there.  Each person does their own thing with respect for those around them. Very kind staff and pleasant atmosphere.

A couple of Muslim women at the Aqua classes at Acton gym wear swimsuits that cover them from neck to ankle.

Sue thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it.  Phil I do not think I can get treatment at The Haven as I do not have cancer but it looks a great place.

HiBrentford has a disabled evening - on a Monday night I think. This might be a compromise option for you to investigate.Good for you for trying to get swimming by the waySue

My company operates a tax efficient Give As You Earn (GAYE) scheme which means employees' can donate money to registered charities really easily, via payroll. "Your donation is taken from your pre-tax salary, meaning that part of your donation comes from money that would have otherwise gone to HMRC".For example making a £20 donation to charity as a 20% taxpayer will cost only £16 or as a 40% taxpayer just £12.Re The Haven, it's s breast cancer charity, and they have an enormous amount of expertise.

A very close friend received advice and treatment for lymphoedema from an organisation called "The Haven" in Fulham:http://thehaven.org.uk/My personal experience of them is also incredibly positive and they are one of the 3 charities selected for my GAYE scheme. I doubt whether they have their own pool but if one exists, and it can be used to treat lymphoedema, my guess is that they'll know about it.

I'm pretty sure Ealings therapy pool went some years ago, I used to go there for hydrotherapy

I wonder if Ealing Hospital might be worth an 'ask'. They  have a therapy pool which is not in constant use as do Charing Cross Hospital.

Marion - if I knew anyone who owned a private swimming pool, I would suggest talking to them, but unfortunately I don't.Notting Hill and Ealing High School in West Ealing has a swimming pool and they will soon be on half term - might be worth giving them a call?I seem to remember they once said the pool would be available to the public but I've no idea if this has ever happened.As an alternative, last January I got a very cheap  1-week membership of the LA Fitness gym in Northolt, and for 3 days I was on my own in the pool and never once shared it with more than 4 others.  From memory, I was going shortly before they closed but they may be able to tell you when the pool will be at its quietest.Good luck.

As far as I'm aware there's no requirement to wear conventional bare leg "Western" style swimming costumes in public swimming pools.Out of curiosity, knowing western costumesmight be a problem for certain religions I lookedit up and apparently there's a style of costumecalled a "Burqini" or "Burkini" some styles of which appear to have baggy legs.It might be advisable to check with the pool first about these costumes - whether there are special ladies only nights etc before buying one. Also the pool may be able to offer other advice concerning your problem.michael adams...
