Oscar Pistorious sentencing

What do you all make of this?If you were judge, what sentence would you give?I was not happy with the statement made by the phychologist. She was too emotionally invoved with him and who knows what else.Did you know he now has a new girlfriend.I believe in a life for a life. She is never coming back. So if i was judge, he would be locked up for maximum 14 years in total isolation. But we know that is not going to happen.The judge has a soft spot for Oscar, so it will be a slap on the wrist and community service.

A very soft sentence for what he did.People get longer for robbery.Very poor from the judge.

Maybe you're right Nigel, I thought five years meant five years - on second thoughts it does seem over lenient now - still a sad affair.

You jest of course Gerry.TEN MONTHS incarceration for manslaughter - ridiculous.Oh sorry plus four years of supervised house arrest which means he is free to 'come and go' while supervised.Not much for a life is it Gerry?

Oscar Pistorius gets five years for Reeva Steenkamp death, Judge Thokozile Masipa also gave Pistorius a three-year suspended sentence for a firearms charge.Defence lawyer Barry Roux said his client was expected to serve 10 months in prison, with the rest under house arrest.

The sentencing has now been delayed to End of November.For Gods sake, its as if the judge is finding any ways to prove him innocent.Maybe it will go on until next year.What a joke the South African Justice system is. The message is if you want to shoot your wife, go to South Africa and if you are disabled, you can get away with murder.

If Oscar is not jailed, then threats have been made to shoot the judge and oscar.I hope the judge sees sense and does the right thing.If she frees him, she is a dead woman walking.

How on earth is this woman allowed to give evidence when she knows nothing at all. How can she call herself a probation officer. She deserves a slap.You just have to watch it for yourself on sky to see what i mean.

Interesting one. given the original judgement and also the combination of a firearms offence showing a reckless approach, I would expect a custodial sentence. the judges comments in the trial were to the point. she obviously thinks that whilst he did not set out to kill her, his actions were reckless. I expect jail but a soft jail!!

"If you were judge, what sentence would you give?..."As an occasional lay observer I don't think I'm qualified to pass a sentence, its such a complicated and long running case and I haven't heard the whole trial. Let the judge finally pronounce having heard all the evidence. With respect Alesha, I think you're a bit harsh with your judgement and sentence.
