New Caribbean restaurant opens.

Has anyone tried the new Caribbean food restaurant at 16 High Street W5 yet? I believe its called Turtle Bay and I'm told that they have jerk dishes, either chicken or goat or beef. And tasty rice and peas. Personally, I've seldom tried jerk food - what's it like please?

Nigel I totally agree with your comments on the shops which are no longer available in Ealing Broadway! Restaurants are fine and dandy but we do rather seem to have a glut of them in Ealing Broadway nowadays!

Went there Saturday night but only called in for a cocktail at the bar as they were "fully booked"Popped to the Wine & Mousaka first and had an okay meal there, great bottle of red and superb chilled Keo.Dissappointed to see empty tables when we got in there but got a good spot at the bar and had couple of nice drinks. However if you like cocktails but don't like em rum based then you'll be left out. I like a mojhito so in luck but everything else was rum based -- totally Carribean!! Suits me down to the ground but others maybe not soNice gaff. Done up like a "yard", quite shabby chic and won't age well but nice nonetheless. Very on trend with focus on dining and post food drinks at the bar area and subtle reggae music in the background I will eat here as soon as possible as the menu sounds really niceCan Ealing eateries continue to grow and get better?

Gerry I have just been to Turtle Bay for lunch.  It was very good indeed!  I had a jerk pulled pork bap with seasoned fries and coleslaw.  It cost about £11 with a bottle of Carib.  Lots of jerk and hot sauces on the table.  I'll definitely be going back to try their curry goat now I know the basics are that good.  Lots of waiting staff and a comfortable vibrant room.  Impressed.

Just to go back to the topic of various restaurants and cafes opening in Ealing, it amazes me that people have the extra funds to eat out so much!

TomDo check out Chiswick.Loads of independent shops and really good fruit and veg stalls. Restaurant 'creep' has hit them but as the High Road is longer the impact isn't as great.

Yes i did make the point but just as a general discussion, I`m not arguing..Haberdashery - I`m admitting i don`t know what it is and asking. I`m noot saying it dosn`t matter because i don`t use itI won`t call you `matey` anymore. Sense a little hostility so I`ll pull out. Happy shopping in Chiswick, never made it down there so I`ll go and check it out!Tom

Sorry Tom you made the point about Ealing Broadway.We don't all want to shop at TKPrimrkNext or whatever the chain called. Where do I buy Ben Sherman, Bass Loafers, MobilElasto or Cox Moore in Ealing?Haberdashery - your not knowing what it is, is no excuse.Musical instruments - not specialist at all.Dyas are good but could they sell you a siphon, a joist hanger or some clutch heads? (The answer's no BTW)Department stores don't have to be part of a faceless chain. We had two in Ealing Broadway and one was admittedly part of a massive (five shop privately owned) chain.CD's - retro is in 'matey' and even vinyl sales are on the increase.Furnishers. Daniels are good for beds but what about sofas, chairs and tables?Sorry, but Ealing as a 'general' shping destination is rubbish.

Fair point(s) and I guess its because I don`t shop in those sort of shops anyway.. But :Gents outfitters - Think you probably after a traditional one with an old man and a tape measure - probably had its day sadly. Theres a Mos Bros and you can get decent suits in Next and M&S though..?Haberdashery - I don`t know what this is. Sewing stuff?Sheet music/ musical instruments - Pretty specialist stuff mate. There is the piano shop and the strings shop on Ealing common. I dont know if they do sheet music thoughProper hardware shop with knowledgeable staff - You prob gonna laugh if i say Robert Dyas but the Dulux shop is pretty well kitted out every time i go in there. And the staff wear builders boots so they look the part!Department store? Personnally, thanks God we dont have one. And anyway isn`t this a "faceless chain"..? :O)Butcher (not in a supermarket)? Fair point! But I probably wouldn`t use it anyway!Greengrocer (do.)? Good point. Am moving from my job in a few weeks and near my office they have two big fruit and veg stalls. Gonna miss it lots. Ealing Broadway had all these. Chiswick and Richmond still have most if not all so that's where I spend my cash with independent businesses rather than faceless chains.Enjoy the restaurant takeover!

Haven't tried (but will), but an honourable mention for Silva Lining (West Ealing, vis Just Eat). Their Jerk Chicken is spot on.

I think theres a great mix of shops and restaurants. Theres nothing I can`t buy and a great choice of food outlets. Whats the problem...?

Sadly, there seem to be those here who think that Ealing Broadway should be nothing more than a giant 'food court'.I simply can't be at all bothered to 'shop' there any more.

Thanks Tom, I can't resist a good salt beef sandwich with lots of sweet pickled cucumber and lashings of mustard.  I'll give that Limehouse place a visit soon.

Its opens on October 3rd - I can`t wait!!!Oh and Gerry you might want to know the new Limehouse Cafe a few doors down does a salt beef sandwich - thought you might want to give it a go :O)

A couple of days ago it was still undergoing staff training and not open to the public.  Just further up the road near the High Street entrance to the Centre the new Limeyard Cafe & Restaurant (http://limeyardrestaurant.com/) opened earlier this week.
