Book Club - Chiswick

Hi allJust wanted to post up a message about a book club that has been running in Chiswick for a few years, to see if there is anyone looking to join. We are a group of ladies of mixed ages that meet 4 weeks or so, normally in a local pub in Chiswick. With no disrespect to my fellow book-clubbers, we are not a high-brow group, we just like to chat about the books and current affairs etc. Let me know if you'd like more information. ThanksKaty

Are there any book clubs in Ealing? I'd be interested in one nearer home, rather than in Chiswick. I wonder if they'd know in the excellent Oxfam bookshop?

Hi SueGood to hear from you. Bit more info below:We normally meet up every 4 weeks or so, depending on the length of the book chosen. We take turns to pick the book (we go alphabetically).We meet at a local pub in Chiswick like The Lamb or the Roebuck in the evening at 8pm. We decide the dates at the meetings and try to stick to that date.  We chat about the book and then invariably the conversation moves to general chit chat about current affairs or films etc. We had a break over the summer and a new date hasn't been picked so let me know if you'd be interested in joining the group and I can let you know the new date and venueThanksKaty

Hi Gerry,Yes as the moment we are ladies only but open to everyone. We take in turns (alphabetically!) to choose a book which we find works well as it means you read books you might not necessarily choose yourself. Over the years we've covered all kinds of books from the classics to biography. Recent books we've read include David Copperfield, Gone Girl, Burying the Typewriter, The Colour Purple, and A Tale for the Time Being.
