Best Chinese take-away delivery?

Take-aways come and go so frequently - which is the best Chinese take-away at the moment in Ealing?

Where I grew up as a lad there were two Chinese restaurants in the town.One of them cropped up reasonably regularly in the local press having been hauled before the beak for the offence of "Alsation in the freezer".Thing is... they sold the best spare ribs by a country mile.

No. What I liked about it was that it had some substance and had not turned into microwaved sponge as many meat dishes do in many different types of cuisines in many different take-aways in Ealing manage to achieve.

I admire the fact that you've known this particular family and their excellent local business for a long time.  I too support local businesses and services wherever and whenever possible. In fact, we're still friendly with a businessman and his family who used to have a then snall restaurant on Sth Ealing Road decades ago, when I was an impoverished student living in 'digs' near Sth Ealing Station. His son owns and runs three restaurants in the westend(Soho) now - although not local we still use their eateries and recommend them now.

Pleasing to see quite a few forum faithfuls and other cognoscenti are trying the  Cathay Chef in Boston Parade Nigel - I've never tried them, so I'll give them my next Chinese food delivery order to see for myself - your recs are usually spot on - thanks.

Well well well. ..Ordered the three meats with spring onion;  singapore fried noodles and mixed vegetables. The food was very good.  It arrived seventeen minutes after ordering.  Having told him I was a new customer he generously put in his menu leaflet Iin with the order! I will order from him again.

Not wishing to steal your thunder, Ben, but I popped into The Cathay Chef tonight - my first time there, too. Chinese has never been my favourite food, but I must say that tonight's take-away was the best Chinese that I've ever had.  Duck with cashews, sweet and sour veggies, egg-fired rice, spring-veggie roll.  All very distinct dishes/flavours (unlike many Chinese meals that I've had in the past).  I will definitely be going again.  I just hope they spruce up their shop frontage/sign a bit, it doesn't do justice to the food they sell.

Update!  I mentioned you Nigel.  Yes he knew you very well! Told him about  your review on Ealing Today. My delivery time is "about 20 mins". Well let's see how well he does. The clock is ticking!

I will be giving the Cathay Chef a ring now for the first time.  Checked out Just Eat for the menu and will ring direct. Will see if expectations are then met!

On reflection the cat joke is actually not that funny. One of the things I sometimes wish that this Forum had was a delete function for those social gaffs. My apologies to animal lovers and the excellent chinese duck that I so enjoy.

There's a really super one in Brook Road South in Brentford. Changed hands a couple of years ago and can't remember the new name but it is excellent and really clean.

The Dragon Inn in South Ealing on the South Ealing Road on the same side as, but about a 125m further down the road. The duck dishes are really good at the moment. Big portions and the rice is fresh.

I'm sounding like the Michael Tsang fan club.I's a 'proper' family business.Mr. Tsang Snr. is still around and Michael and his sister are the chefs.As well as the food being great they are simply very nice people who work damned hard to keep their business as good as it is.

Ah, interesting.We got our last Chinese takeaway from there - the first time ever that we have used that establishment - and were very impressed with the food compared to our normal haunt.Delivering as well just puts the cap on it.

I lived opposite Cathay Chef for years and their chicken curry was a staple part of a single mans dietI still use them from time to timeWe now use The Dragon Inn on South Ealing Rd as very close to us and amazing portions at very reasonable prices

Just to add Michael's menu in on the Just Eat website.Pick what you want and then phone him direct to order and it will be 10-12% cheaper as you avoid their mark-up.

The wonderful Michael Tsang at The Cathay Chef on Boston Parade delivers (020 8579 2980). He has owned my local 'Chinese' for well over twenty years his father for longer before that). Always piping hot, fresh  and devoid of cloying sauces. Five star hygiene rated as well.

Are there any Chinese takeaways that actually deliver?I know that the one opposite the Drayton Court Hotel in The Avenue is contemplating offering this but I wasn't aware of any that were actually already doing it...?
