Where to Buy a Used Car

Following on from Gerry's thread about what car to buy, where is the best place to look?I'm looking for a 24 - 36 month old Ford and have tried Car Giant, Trust Ford Alperton (and through their website Ford nationally), Autotrader, MJA Autos, RC Woods Hounslow, Motorpoint and a couple of far flung places in Wilmslow and Cheshire and honestjohn.co.ukAny recommendations?Thanks!

I have purchased several vehicles from Ebay over the past 11 years and had no problems. The car I have at the moment I have had for two and a half years and it’s only needed 4 tyres. Advise staying away from dealers as they sell the cars they can’t sell in their showroom.

IIRC it is reasonably quick once you have set the specs wanted but of course it depends on what you want being available at the trade auctions where they buy for you.

I would avoid extra warranties like the plague, not many are worth the paper they're written on, does it have to be a dealer ? I would have said find somebody car savvy and go private if it doesn't, you can check HPI etc on line to be certain it's clear of finance etc, I buy and sell via gumtree when changing cars

I have used imperial car supermarket recently,they even put a copy of the,Service history,Mot status,Registration v5,Hpi check and Rac inspection with their car adverts.Not to much pressure to buy extras ie warranty unlike other local outlets and cheaper.

Had a v good experience at Alperton Ford.Read terrible things about the VW place on Victoria Rd in Ruislip when I was researching.
