Ealing Common Traffic lights

As I turned right from A406 towards Ealing common this morning someone in motorcycle style leathers with a darkened cycle helmet was taking photos.  Just feeling unsettled as he was taking pictures of me and my car sitting waiting to turn right then turned and took pictures of me after I had turned.  There was no sign of any id such as police or highways and no obvious reason for this.Has anyone else experienced this or know of any reason this may have been taking place?

"Stuck in CCTV monitored box and a £65 fine with no right of appeal because the damned CCTV only looks at the box and not intended exit!"If the camera doesn't show the exit from the box, then the evidence is inadequate.  If you entered the box when the exit was clear, but were prevented from proceeding by the unexpected intrusion of a bus, then you have a good case to appeal, and to the adjudicator if LBHF reject your appeal.However, I'm not familiar with the precise layout at that junction nowadays. (On Street View there is no yellow box, and buses leaving the bus station had to give way to traffic turning into Fulham Palace Road, but I guess it's been changed since then.)

It's an absolute s*d Brian. You cannot even appeal on 'de minimis' grounds as you are firmly stuck until the bus moves. Cunningly, as I said, the cameras do not show the reason why one is stuck (exit blocked by a bus although the exit was clear upon entering the box junction) but the simple fact that one is stuck and without this supportive video 'evidence' one no grounds to appeal. Nice little 'earner' for LBH&F.

No, the law is clear.You MAY enter the box to perform a right hand turn and indeed wait on the 'hatching' until your exit is clear. You may not enter the box if your route ahead or to the left is not clear.The box that really annoys me is the one under Hammersmith flyover turning in to Fulham Palace Road where it is possible to enter with a clear exit ahead only to see it blocked by a bus emerging from the  station.Result: Stuck in CCTV monitored box and a £65 fine with no right of appeal because the damned CCTV only looks at the box and not intended exit! Grrr.

Yup, I understand the offence is committed when you enter the junction when it's not possible to exit it (at the time you enter it), it's nothing to do with stopping in it. I would guess this even applies when turning right, and you enter it when the road you're turning right onto is backed up and you can't turn right because of it.

Completely right Graham - it seems a little known fact,  unfortunately. Rule no. 174:https://www.gov.uk/using-the-road-159-to-203/road-junctions-170-to-183"174Box junctions. These have criss-cross yellow lines painted on the road (see ‘Road markings’). You MUST NOT enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear. However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right. At signalled roundabouts you MUST NOT enter the box unless you can cross over it completely without stopping.Law TSRGD regs 10(1) & 29(2)"

Is not one allowed to  be in a yellow box when waiting to turn? I thought the prohibition about entering a box only applied when one could not exit straight ahead.
