METRO Bank Ealing Broadway

Anyone else use this place?Walked in yesterday to open a joint account with my missus and I was very impressed with the layout, the finish and their marketing approach to K9's. Dog friendly is the way forward!But then the actual substance began.I'm afraid after being left sitting there in a sparse cavern for 26 minutes with not a word spoken to us after being told "be with you in a couple of minutes" just wasnt on.If that's what it's like to actually give them money God knows what it's like after they've got it!!!Looks like the internet is removing all forms of old fashioned interaction and customer service. So I'll have to consult the keyboard to open our new account.Is my initial impression a fair reflection????

Agree, I like a high street bank where they know their all their customers and not only their big account clients.

As far as I know it is a totally independent a Bank. I love Metro, which other bank offers you such personal service - real people who talk, smile, and laugh with you, rather than a machine, who can't even say Thank You!!

Is Metro Bank part of a larger national bank group? Or is it singly independent?

Haven't been able to fault First Direct - been with them since they opened. I also have an account with Santander and they've been fine too. I am not a difficult customer though and don't make many demands.

I started with Barclays but found they wanted to charge me business rates when I was self employed and a sole trader.I went to Midland ( Now HSBC) and they were really rather good for 25 years, until they closed the South Ealing Branch and it just went downhill.Switched to Santander. After 2 years with them I am at my wits end with their inane and endless security and lack of customer service by phone. Their internet banking is so hopeless and prone to security issues.So have run a trial account  at Metro.So far everything has been very good. No problems, good phone service and good at the actual bank.Not as good as when Barclays and Midland had proper local banks with staff who knew you by your name and face - The best form of security!So I'll be transferring all our business and private banking to Metro at the end of the financial year.

I use them. They treat my dog a lot better than my previous bank treated me. Sometimes a bit of a wait in branch to see someone, but online has been faultless, and when you phone up you speak to an intelligent real person. Highly recommended.

The account opening procedure is all done in store and quiet thorough including them taking a photo of you.No appoint required but be prepared to wait,its worth the wait.What I like they issue debit cards and cheque books on the same visit and if you ever damage or your card does not work they will replace it straight away in store any store,no waiting for the postman !.When you use the counter service to pay in or take out ,they have your photo on their computer to verify you are the account holder. Coin counting machine for account and non account holders no commission,either pay it into your account or take in notes.Decent staff,good opening times,good locations.Well I am happy with them.Bye Bye Halifax.
