Proliferation of Persian restaurants.

Has anyone noticed the many new Persian restaurants in Ealing and Acton in the last year or so? I like Persian(Iranian) food, but I wonder why they seem to be so prolific?  Not complaining, just curious.

I never liked Persian Palace Gerry I think I found it too westernised, probably why I liked persian terrace until it's demise

JAAMI sounds an interesting new local restaurant Perrin - must try it soon to see for myself - we used to enjoy The Persian Palace further down the road.

Jaami, we were there last night. It was okay, forget the starters except for the soup. We did get more food than we could eat - we didn't really touch the rice. The manager/ son of owner was rather smarmy, asking us every so often if we would be back again. He also said that the chef from the Persian Palace had left there to join Jammi.  We shan't be going back in a hurry, though the rest of the clientele dining there were obviously from the Mid. East so they must be doing something well!

We love Lebanese food too and go frequently to Karaam(near derelict cinema) by Barnes Pickle) - we're fortunate in Ealing to have so many Middle Eastern eateries.

Ya Sham is Lebanese not Persian.  Big difference.

Ya Sham by Dean Gardens is getting rave reviews on Facebook.  I have yet to try it but the menu looks good.

Haven't tried BOOF Persian yet (can't google any info), but we've eaten and love the new Faanoos at 11 Bond Street W5 - particularly like their house salads and instantly made Persian bread with their tender lamb fillet kebabs with saffron rice. Baklavas and Persian coffee after is a delicious and naughty-but-nice pleasure. Hadn't realised that Iranian food was so good and resonably priced.

Have you also noticed BOOF, which has opened near enough opposite the town hall Gerry ? I haven't tried any of them yet, as for caviar I can only say yuck, I remember many times picking the other half up at Heathrow and being absolutely bombarded by Iranians asking if he had brought any caviar with him and could they buy it from him ?, BAA must have gotten wise to it as I haven't seen it happen for years.

Tracey, there's an interesting Persian food shop in West Ealing. Once, fancying some caviar(which I seldom eat), I asked for some Persian caviar and was shocked at the extremely expensive price of the stuff. Didn't buy any caviar, but instead went to Waitrose for some faux caviar(lumpfish stuff) - it tasted fine. Wish I could afford that Caspian Sea caviar. Ah well.

What a coincidence - this very morning, a leaflet advertising a NEW Persian restaurant, nearby in Culmington Parade(across the road from Ealing Fire Station), came through the letterbox.  The restaurant is called Jaami and does take-away meals also.  Anyone tried it yet?

It seems that Bayswater and Kensington are moving west Gerry, the only reasoning I can think of Is the lower business rates etc, however I still go to Mahdi in hammersmith to eat, as I find the west Ealing restaurants too westernised. But it is nice to be able to shop for the ingredients for Persian food in West Ealing I used to have to go to the Edgware Rd when I first moved to Ealing in 86
