A gastric band is a last resort operation IMHO, they only serve to make the person feel as though they have eaten enough food. So basically its a diet which is 'forced' a friend who is in her mid 30's has one, invariably she hasn't drastically lost weight (it's been 2 years now) and it seems to be more of an encumbrance, eating anything is difficult and has to be washed down with plenty of fluids, it can also cause the person to be sick straight after eating.Personally, control the intake (energy in) and exercise in a way that is possible (energy out)is all that is required, maybe rather simplistic but so is controlling weight and diet.Of course psychological reasons do come into it, the person who is asking for this operation to be done will under go many evaluations to see if it's the best course of action, unless they go private. What is the reason for asking?
