Royal Nawaab, Perivale.

Tripadvisor reviews very mixed. Anyone here been? We have a visitor on Sunday who fancies an 'Indian' lunch. Any recommendations in Ealing, not Southall?  Car parking would be a plus too.

I would rate Mamas on Northfields Ave above all those mentioned having eaten in all of them and Madhus in Southall as the best Indian food I've had anywhere in the UK

The Brilliant in Southall is top notch.I thought Kinnock was a regular at The Sitar in S.Ealing. I'm pretty sure that's where he had his well publicised punch up all those years ago.The Sitar did fantastic food in its day. I remember their cheapo advert shown before films at the ABC.

I have enjoyed Southall dining many times but my specifying Ealing in the start of this thread was because we had a visitor coming to Ealing Broadway who only had a few hours with us.

I do find it hilarious that we ignore/neglect Southall as a part of Ealing boroughYou would imagine that the one area that covers indian food IS SOuthall

In the end it was Monty's for Sunday lunch. We arrived after 1pm and were surprised to find we were the only diners. We finished after 3pm and still no other diners. This would usually not be a good sign but the food was really good, good service and reasonably priced. Definitely worth its reputation. For once Kinnock had good taste. Now of course he dines five star off the EU gravy train.

PhilYou won't be disappointed. Nothing changes at Monty's. The 'specials' are the specials from 1995! Still consistently good.I must though try Sami's Spice as it's getting consistently good reviews.

GrahamIn terms of recommendations for non-Southall Indian restaurants in Ealing:a.  Zayka, 8 South Ealing Road, Ealing, W5 4QA - I was there last Friday and it was, as normal, excellent.  Plenty of parking nearby, especially in the (often free) car park close by or in Culmington Rd.b.  Haweli, West Ealing, 127-129 Uxbridge Rd, W13 9AU - amazingly consistent over the last 15+ years.  I was there in June and enjoyed my meal.  On-road parking and a car park nearly opposite.c.  Gurkha's Spiceworld, 13 Ruislip Rd, Greenford UB6 9QD - I haven't been there for 12 months but notice that tripadvisor rate it as the "no. 1 restaurant in Greenford"!  I went twice last year and the food was hot, fresh and tasty.  Parking directly outside.d.  Keith Iddon has sung the praises of Sami's Spice, 125 High St, Brentford TW8 8AT - as a result, I've been there twice this year and it was excellent.  It's a BYO but doesn't charge corkage and there's an off-licence opposite, selling small bottles of Cobra at decent prices (bizarrely, the 330ml bottles are less than half the price of the 660ml ones).  Plenty of parking after 17:30.e.  One more place recommended by a friend but which I haven't yet tried is Hum Tum Restaurant, 175 Uxbridge Rd, London W7 3TH.  She is from an Indian family and, apparently, eats there most weeks.  Parking on the road or behind the Thai restaurant opposite.I haven't been to Monty's in South Ealing for (20?) years but, following Nigel's recommendation, will go again soon.I'm hungry now!

Royal Nawab has only been opened a few weeks so I hope it's only teething problems and will settle down soon. I do know that that seek to be very busy every evening so they must have a good marketing team. It's also good to see they've invested in and upgraded an empty corner of the Hoover Building (which had been left vacant for as long as I can remember)

No Kinnock chair!The other branches are not a patch on the South Ealing Road one, how they produce such food from a tiny kitchen bewilders me. I always judge an 'Indian' restaurant on the quality of its bread and vegetable dishes. The breads at Monty's are never 'flabby' but light and flaky and vegetables are always perfectly cooked, so many serve an anonymous 'mush' something that I have never seen there.The owner is a proud ex-Ghurka and it shows.

GrahamMonty's on South Ealing Road.Nepalese rather than 'Indian' (which are mostly Bangladeshi anyway). Piping hot, generous portions, reasonably priced and with good service every time that I have been there over the last 25 years.

Hi Graham,Being just across the road from Ealing Golf Club, we were very excited to learn that this place was opening. I've not been but a friend has and is adamant he would not go back again.They do not have an alcohol license (which isn't the be all) but also, prohibit bringing your own in. It's a buffet style set up and I'm told it's long queues sort of like your school days whilst queuing for your school lunch. Food is apparently good, but very uncomfortable set up. But, I will probably give this a try for myself to make my mind up, but this is what I know so far.

Hiya Graham, my family and I have two favourite Indian restaurants in Ealing and both have ample free parking on a Sunday. Firstly, The Laguna(nr Fire Station) on corner of Uxbridge Road/Culmington Road and Papaya(corner Northfield Ave and Elers Road), which is actually Sri Lankan cuisine. Both are well established and highly regarded by many who know and appreciate food from that part of the East. Bon apetit!
