I heard the thunder but we had no rain.Apparently almost 50mm of rain dropped in under two hours. A40 closed, homes flooded, people rescued from cars.Amazing how localised this was.

When the thunder sounded early this morning there wasn't a drop of rain near Walpole Park - it must have been very local.

I heard the single rumble of thunder -- it was long here in south Ealing, rather than loud. Some amazing stories on the BBC News website of the flooding so near by! People having to be rescued from Ruislip station as if it were an island.

"We in Hanwell were very lucky but there was a clap oif thunder about 7am that registers with I think the loudest I heard - ltierally jumped out of the bed!!"That thunderclap was something else. We'd just opened the curtains to watch the skies, and then boom! The amount of birds taking off in panic was a sight to behold. I also saw a cat on a garage roof cowering in terror.
