The press in this country too heap too much critiscism or praise on one player, putting much pressure on him, a la Rooney. Roy should have told Wayne that he was, having scored nigh on 300 goals in the last 12 years, his chosen no. 9 and to stop worrying, with Sturridge (too greedy and can't beat a man, needs too many chances) or Sterling ( my choice as he likes players in front of him but still a work in progress)in the no. 10 role. Having said that we are too rigid in sticking to positions and seem more flat footed that most of our opponents. Barklay, Lallana, Shaw, Jomes,Stones are the future but still have a great deal to prove. I am not optimistic that the team they are in for the Euros, assuming we qualify, will do any better. Either waym we need Gerrard and Lampard to retire so we can move on. I am not wholly optimistic.
