Gunnersbury Park

According to the BBC website today Gunnersbury Park is to get £4m of lottery funding for restoration. Great news and it would be nice if they could rebuild the Japanese garden from this cashhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-28161013

Good news. Our parks seem to be getting plenty of Heritage Lottery funding - what with our Walpole Park's donation, now Gunnersbury Park. Great news.

With a key to the height barrier  or via the double gates which are securely padlocked.OK, it wouldn't deter the determined trespasser but will at least dissuade the fly tippers.

And how then, would the tradespeople who are doing the restoration work get their vehicles into the park?

Actually I meant posting at exactly the same time with the same idea but worded differently!  I've read that lots of parks have height restrictions.

Height restrictions on the entrances to stop them bringing their vans into the park.

Great news.Perhaps they could spend a tiny proportion of the grant on some 'anti-Pikey' gates.

http://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/200073/parks_and_open_spaces/645/gunnersbury_park_and_museum_improvements/4There is a mailing list that you should get yourself on if you are interested in the restoration.There are quite a few pages about it on LBE's website.  I haven't looked at LBH's.  I have to admit I haven't been since I went to see some South Pacific dancing there years ago.Let's hope that looking after it will also mean protecting it from the destructive attention it received recently.
