Ealing Gazette

Maybe I am behind the times, if so apologies, but I see that our local newspaper is now officially free, rather than "90p (or was it 80p?) where sold".  Did anyone ever pay for it?

Ages ago the Ealing Gazette was an important local newspaper carrying important neighbourhood issues - it used to be the breeding ground for good national journalists - not any more sadly.

The Ealing Gazette baffles me.  I'm in West Ealing and used to get it delivered there when I first moved to that part 5 years ago. Then they stopped delivering it door to door and I emailed them a couple of times to find out why with no reply.  Then, a year ago (ish) it seemed to start up again.  However, I am in a top floor flat and sometimes they deliver one copy and sometimes they give us two or some Fridays it doesn't appear at all (or neighbour gets there first! ;) I have seen it free outside estate agents on Northfield for a while now and selling in Haven Green Tesco too.. or has it always been free to just take from Tesco but it's not clear?  All a bit confusing and does seem cheeky that some areas get free delivery and others have/had to pay. All that said, I find the content v minimal these days. Seems the cuts are showing..

sadly it's had major budget cuts. Won't be produced 'in Ealing' anymore and I think will no longer be delivered. That's interesting Rosa, living in the less desirable Hanwell, I have never had a copy delivered to my door and any time I've wanted it, have had to pay.

you can pick up your free copy at Tesco as well. Don't know if other supermarkets do the same. However it used to be delivered free around my area. It did not get delivered this weekend. I assume it is cheaper for them to provide it free rather than to have to pay people to deliver it.

They are now in 'dump bins' outside a number of estate agents and other shops Gerry. Newsagents have barely carried The (overpriced and poorly edited)Gazette for ages.

If the Ealing Gazette is now free, where does one obtain a copy Philip?  Are they in most newsagent shops?
