It suits me very well.I use a car very occasionally (once or twice a month), it's £6 an hour, or £50 a day, with a 28p per mile milage charge to cover the fuel. I sometimes get stung with a bill for a hundred quid or so if I take one away for the weekend, but that's nothing to getting stung with a bill of a few hundred for new shocks or tyres.I usually use a little hybrid toyota parked outside Hanwell station, which is v nice, I also have access to a van, and a people carrier which is very useful sometimes. It's a slight pain having to walk 10 minutes to get to it, but it's got it's own parking space, so I drive straight into it when I return it.I have to pre-book, and you've always got to bring it back to where you got it, and you can't really be late bringing it back, which can be a worry sometimes, especially as it's hard to judge London traffic.I love not owning a car though!
