The more i read watch and listen about it the more I'm convinced it's the motorcar that's wrecking our town centres.They create a terrible environment, noisy, polluted, many badly driven and the infrastructure required to carry them is devisive and creates the antithesis of the environment you need to attract people.No wonder people are staying in and shopping online.Then you have the growth of out of town shops, sucking more people away from our local shops.Just think. If the people that could cycle or get public transport did, instead of driving, how much more space there would be in our car parks, and on our roads.New York shops are starting to see massive benefits from its change in attitude to the private car, about time we did too!
