gas boiler servcing

Having been ripped of twice recently, once by a local locksmith charging almost £200 to replace a back door lock and then by a national domestic appliance service departement charging £200 to fix a washing machine I now need my gas boiler servicing and don't want to be ripped off again. Can anyone recomend a company or indivual ?

Unfortunately Karl only does domestics so I don't use him in my work life capacity but the fact I'd rather pay him that get a freebie through work speaks volumes.He's now the go to choice for all my family Failing that British Gas 3 star is highly spoken of but all depends what Engineer you get out

That is quite good, Nigel. I pay just under £100 for my annual service but that doesn't cover problems in between of which, fortunately, we've had only one since The Plumber installed the new boiler almost ten years ago.We do have duel fuel from BG but I think I'll stick with the plumbers I know.

That's a good rate for regular Home Care Service from BG, its better than ours - I think BG saw me coming 11 years ago.  I'll make enquiries of Brit Gas. Thanks.

Susan, if you take dual fuel from British Gas you can negotiate a price for the Home Care package.I have full central heating system cover (no charge for parts and labour with no limit) and a full annual service and safety check for £41 per quarter. It's not a regular offer but it's there if you ask.

How much do British Gas charge you for your annual servicing (ooh, er!), Gerry, if I may ask? Because they are notoriously expensive.I've used The Plumber -- 01895441837 -- for more than 20 years for all my plumbing and heating.

Speaking of gas boilers, when should one renew a boiler?  We've had our Potterton Performa 28 for 11 years and perhaps we should be thinking of renewing it. Our boiler serves our cenrtal heating and our all our hot water requirements and has been serviced by Brit Gas from new. I know nothing of gas boilers. Advice please?
