Author Gavin De Bier has released the keenly anticipated follow up to his critically acclaimed novels, Bobbing Heads and Consider It Done; with TheTaste Of Crying being the final part of the trilogy
Bobbing Heads was primarily set in Ealing, whereas Consider it Done takes place in several places and The Taste Of Crying features a variety of locations. However, De Bier is keen to stress that Ealing is where Greg the main protagonist lived and worked and that the writer will be forever grateful for the local support he has received from the borough.
“Sandra Courtney, the organiser of the Ealing Half Marathon, and her team have been behind me right from the start. In recognition of that, there is a character in Consider It Done named after her! Sandra’s character gets a couple of mentions in the latest book as well. Also Fiona at Pitzhanger Books has given great backing – what a thrill to see Bobbing Heads in her shop window (which is at mile four on the Ealing Half Marathon route) along with a supportive blurb!”
It can sometimes be difficult for writers to produce follow-ups to successful predecessors and we asked if this was the case with The Taste Of Crying.
“No, as soon as I had finished, Consider It Done, I had ideas for the next book and started it straight away. I knew what I wanted the characters to do and fed off that energy.”
De Bier’s books have been compared to John Marrs, Erin Kelly, and T M Logan and we asked if he is happy with those comparisons.
“Of course! They are great writers and I am happy to be considered alongside them. Also, Waterstones compared Bobbing Heads to the Bourne Conspiracy and naturally I am happy to go along with that as well!”
The Taste of Crying is available now from Amazon.
