West Ealing Home Price Record Broken


House in Mortimer Road becomes W13's most expensive

For the first time ever a home in the W13 post code area has sold for over £2,000,000. The new record price was set by a six bedroom house on Mortimer Road which sold for £2,650,000.

The property was originally marketed for just under £3 million. Only two other residential properties in Ealing as a whole have sold for more according to Land Registry figures.

The house, built in 1910, has been derelict for a number of years.

Hamptons sold the house and Matt Gilbert from the estate agents says:

In the same month the eighth most expensive property in West Ealing was also sold with a house on Courtfield Gardens changing hands for £1,700,000.

There have been 54 properties sold in West Ealing (W13) since the end of the third quarter of 2012 at an average price of £579,311. This would represent an all-time high for properties in this area although with more sales to be reported for the period the number may need to be revised.

Property prices in the W5 post code area have fallen back from the highs seen during the summer. Since the end of September there have been 66 properties sold at an average price of £454,744. There was only one property sold for over a million pounds, a house on The Park costing £1,130,000.

The October data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 1.1 per cent which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £161,605. This is marginally up on the previous month.

London continues to be the area of the country with the fastest rising prices up by 7.0 per cent over the last year.

The most up-to-date figures available show that during August 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales decreased by 3 per cent to 62,291 compared with 64,417 in August 2011.

The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in August 2012 increased by 12 per cent to 843 from 753 in August 2011.
