An Indian restaurant in Ealing has been rated as the best in west London at a recent gala awards ceremony.

Staff from Haweli were called up to the stage after winning the category at the Tommy Miah's International Indian Chef Competition and Hospitality Awards (TMIICA) last Sunday (29 September).

"We are incredibly proud and humbled to receive this award," said Manik, owner of Haweli of Ealing. "This recognition is a tribute to our team's hard work and dedication to providing our customers with an unforgettable dining experience. We are committed to continuing to elevate the standards of Indian cuisine in West London."

TMIICA has been running since 1991 and was set up to recognise the excellence of chefs in the trade and to promote innovation and quality in Asian cuisine.

The inaugural competition was launched at the House of Commons by Edwina Currie MP and, in the intervening years, it has established itself as one of the leading award programmes in the industry.

The winners were picked by a panel of judges from across the hospitality sector and beyond including former University Vice-Chancellor Dame Joan Stringer and Gerald Quadros, Executive Chef at The Savoy London.

Entrants have to prepare a four-dish meal (two meat/fish/poultry, and two vegetarian) for the panel of judges.
