Hundreds Enjoy an Ealing/ Brentford Joint Christmas Fair

Traders and community unite on the TW8/W5 border

Ealing and Brentford joined together on Tuesday (24th November) to celebrate a local and traditional Christmas fair at St. Faith’s Church, Windmill Road. Around 900 people turned up for this inaugural event.

 

The air was thronged with a programme of carols from five choirs and musical ensembles, opened by Lionel Road School and closed by Questors Choir.

Church and Hall were full of stalls from our local businesses, offering a wealth of beautiful Christmas gifts from toys to turkey.

Mary Darch & Helen Duff of Darch & Duff said:

“A lovely atmospheric evening, in wonderful architectural surroundings. Darch & Duff have been part of the local trading community for 11 years and we enjoyed seeing everyone coming together in the spirit of Christmas”.

In the games arena, there were educational to board games. Kempson & Beck and Vie at home lead the way in beauty and skin care, with free mini manicures and hair straightening and styling from the Kempson & Beck girls.

Christmas butchery demonstrations were courtesy of local stalwarts Richardson’s. John Richardson said:

''It was great to be part of a well organised and happy community event. We found people were very interested in the level of skill and dexterity involved in traditional butchery, which we were delighted to show off from 60 years of great butchery under the Richardson’s brand”.  

Beautiful children’s wear came from the Dressing up Chest and Ethical babe.  Christmas floristry and decorations came from The Cracked Pot and Kumari Glass. Louise Coultas-Pitman of the Cracked Pot said “what a fabulous way to kick off the festive trading season.

With 14 years on the high street and a year successfully on the web too, it was good opportunity to greet so many existing and new customers, as well as showcasing our creativity in our new Christmas lines”. There was beautiful jewellery and gifts from Jane West, Dabs Jewellery, and Lleixa Art too.

High street supporters, Waterstones had a busy stall at the event, showcasing great reading and gifts for Christmas as well as gift vouchers.

Seasonal food and drink were supplied by local pub, The Lord Nelson of Enfield Road. Publican Lee Bartlett said:

'' It was a great opportunity to meet regulars and new customers alike, and promote and launch our winter menu devised by our Head Chef Daniel Collier”

 Peter Hughes, President of Brentford Chamber of Commerce said “it was encouraging to see so many local businesses from both our high streets and the growing number if internet based businesses coming together under one roof to boost the local economy”.

The Reverend Derath Durkin of St. Faith’s Church rounded things up nicely, when she says that “it was so fabulous to see Church and Hall humming with throngs of people from both our community and the church sharing a good experience for all the family. It was good to see so many people having an enjoyable time. It was an amazing opportunity to work with local businesses and to see the church open to all our local community.”
