Social networking is bringing people together for local knees-up!
Local resident Mark Hillary is arranging a night out at the pub next week with a few friends - hardly newsworthy.
However in this case many of Mark's pals have never 'met' each other - or even him before.
They are part of a growing gang who use the social networking site twitter.
Mark writes:
We have done it three times now, and this is the fourth! It's the Ealing tweetup at the Rose & Crown, and it gives me great pleasure to confirm that the friendly folks at 1E (www.1e.com), an Efficient IT company, will sponsor the event - by putting real pound coins behind the bar (albeit for a limited time at the beginning of the evening)! Arrive early to avoid disappointment ;)
So, if you use Twitter and live around west London or in Ealing itself, then why not come and meet some of your online friends in person?
I admit, the Sunday afternoon tweetup had a much lower turnout than the evening ones, so we are back to the evening format here and being a Thursday, it's *almost* the weekend!
Each time this has taken place, there has been a diverse mix of people including school teachers, local councillors, writers, web design experts, photographers... it has a random mix of west London neighbours and many have stayed in touch.
Please invite your friends along and retweet this invitation. Let's get a big crowd along to the pub this time, and don't forget this one has some free drinks too!
