Coming soon St Barnabas Arts Festival

Four days of cultural delights

St Barnabas Church,Pitshanger lane, is a magnificent venue which regularly holds cultural events, and we will be hosting a Festival of Sacred Art and Music to be held on Thursday 19th- Sunday 22nd July 2012, during which we hope to attract art and music lovers to view, visit and attend our events.

Artists from the London area and beyond have been selected by a panel to exhibit work to show for sale, on the theme of Sacred Art, which we define broadly as any visual media intended to inspire, enlighten or praise spiritual values of any faith. We welcome all genres from contemporary to classical, figurative to abstract. Art work will be hung in the church on high quality professional display panels with integral lighting.

The four festival days also include a full programme of exciting musical events which will be held at here:

Thursday 19th  —an Opening Champagne Reception and viewing evening with live Jazz music

Friday 20th—a lunchtime recital by the much lauded Grier Trio, followed by Afternoon Tea and Cakes.    Friday evening may see a Wine Tasting event.  TBA

Saturday 21st -- a ‘Come and Sing’ daytime rehearsal and evening performance of Handel’s Messiah which will be open to all singers and directed by our Director of Music Paul Jeanes with professional soloists and an orchestra. These popular 'scratch' Messiah events are always enjoyable and accessible to even the most hesitant singer.

Sunday 22nd –an afternoon ‘mini Glyndebourne’ picnic with Champagne followed by a Pitshanger Pictures screening of the wonderful opera Die Fledermaus.

There will also be a display of artistic and 'cutting edge' Floral Art Exhibits to enjoy around the church and Hall as well. We hope that all these events will attract large numbers of visitors and thus ensure that the chosen artwork and our church get maximum exposure to the public.

Details of these events can be found on the Arts Festival page of the St Barnabas website- www.barnabites.org/artsfestival,

We hope that you will all embrace this opportunity to be part of this exciting series of events.
