The production of Emma held in Walpole Park last year
May 28, 2026
The Questors Theatre is heading back outdoors this summer, returning to Walpole Park after last year’s successful open-air production of Emma. This time, audiences are invited to step into a world of secrets, suspicion and sharply delivered comedy as Cluedo: The Play takes over the park from 19–27 June.
Based on the much-loved 1980s cult film Clue, the stage adaptation brings the classic board game to life with all its familiar ingredients: the iconic weapons, the shadowy rooms, and the six colourful suspects whose names are etched into pop-culture memory. Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock and Mustard have all been summoned to a remote manor house by an enigmatic butler. When a murder occurs, the race is on to uncover who did it, where, and with what — before the body count rises.
The production promises a playful blend of spoof thriller and fast-paced farce, perfect for a summer evening in the park. Critics have praised the show’s blend of nostalgia and wit, with The New York Times calling it “a very fun whodunit that strikes contemporary parallels on the way to its grand reveal,” while Entertainment Weekly described it as “funny and frothy and light, the kind of breezy night at the theatre that most audiences would kill for.”
Performances begin at 7pm, with a 3pm matinee on Sunday 21 June and an additional matinee on Saturday 27 June. There is no performance on Monday 22 June, and a captioned performance will take place on Thursday 25 June. Tickets range from £12–£20, with concessions and Season Pass options available. The show is recommended for ages 10+.
Audiences are encouraged to bring their own seating — whether folding chairs, picnic rugs or cushions — and to come prepared for the full spectrum of the Great British Summer. Performances will continue in all but the most severe weather, and ticket-holders will be contacted if a show is cancelled or abandoned. Refreshments will be available at The Questors Theatre before and after the performance, and soft drinks may be taken into the park.
Cluedo: The Play is presented outdoors in Walpole Park, directly opposite The Questors Theatre, offering a lively, atmospheric setting for an evening of mystery and mischief. With last year’s open-air production drawing enthusiastic crowds, this year’s comic caper looks set to be another highlight of Ealing’s summer theatre season.
