New Exhibition at Pitzhanger Features Artists at Work

A new exhibition is set to open at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery featuring photography of artists from around the world at work.
Magnum Photos: Where Ideas are Born, is a display of pictures that aim to capture intimate moments of creativity by focussing on artists in their studios.
It is running from 12 July to 29 October from Wednesday to Friday and is free with a general admission ticket.
The exhibition brings together the captivating work of over 20 photographers from the Magnum Photos agency. Visitors will have the chance to explore over 40 photographic portraits of internationally-renowned artists at the moment when inspiration ignites. From the vibrant chaos of Frida Kahlo's workspaces, Andy Warhol's New York loft, to the contemporary Ai Weiwei and Yayoi Kusama.
Magnum Photos said, "This fascinating exhibition will go in search of the places where creativity takes shape and where ideas are born – the artist’s studio. In a series of revealing and characteristic images, artists such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Francis Bacon, Ai Weiwei and Yayoi Kusama can all be seen in their creative environments. The photographs, taken by such photographers as Martin Parr, Inge Morath, and Abbas, are the result of an attempt to capture the precise moments when the spark of creativity takes hold, and new ideas are born."
