More Than A Street Party

Northfield Avenue is THE place to be today

Building on their Christmas success, Northfield Avenue is gearing up for a fantastic Fun Day today.

It's all about 'making the most of Northfields' and there's more than enough to go round.

Yes, NABTA (Northfield Avenue Businesses & Traders Assoc) is holding its second major Fun Day on Northfield Avenue today - from 2-6pm.

"Once again it's designed to raise money for our adopted charity The Log Cabin, and to showcase the fantastic range of shops and businesses on Northfields," said NABTA Chair, Malcolm Todd. "We're putting together an afternoon of fun events that will take place on the Avenue itself, and inside shops and businesses."

Kids activities incude a treasure hunt, lots of competitions and hands-on events, music sessions, facepainting, mixed media self-portraits, cake decorating, a dance display and more.

For adults, there's live music from a band, a strolling Barber Shop Quartet and gospel singing. There are opportunities to taste lots of restaurant/café food, olive oils and even nuts! There will be displays of alternative medicine, a charity carwash, free blood pressure testing, and a couple of very exciting classic cars. Stalls will be selling everything from books to beanie babies. More free entertainment is provided by unicyclists, puppets, and a magician.

The Log Cabin itself is holding an Open Day, with activities that include a Mad Science demo, martial arts display, henna art, a treasure hunt, junk modelling storytelling and a tombola.
