Cupcakes and Ginger Beer at Hanwell's Community Picnic

Let's pray for the sun shines!

Nine of the churches in Hanwell are banding together and organising a picnic in Elthorne Park on Saturday 16th July.

Organisers are promising games, grub and the chance to meet fellow Hanwellians.

Stuart Shackleton, the Pastor at South Hanwell Baptist Church, says
“A picnic’s a great way to bring the community together as people bring their own food and we are providing all sorts of games, face painting and entertainment free.”

The churches in the area already work together. This year 7 churches took it in turns to providing shelter and food for the homeless between January and March – a scheme they are hoping to expand to five months next winter. “It’s crucial that we work together for the community and next year we are also hoping to put on ‘I love Hanwell’-themed events to coincide with the Olympics “ says Stuart (or “Shacky” as he’s universally known)

The Royal Wedding Street party attracted 1000 people – the Carnival was packed with thousands – so this should be a great day. So grab your blanket, sausage rolls and ginger beer and get on down there – 12 noon – 3pm
