Talk on How Henry VI's Weak Rule Led to the Wars of the Roses

The next talk hosted by the Ealing Branch of the Historical Association is to be given by Dr James Ross, Reader in Late Medieval History, University of Winchester.
It will be on the subject of ‘Henry VI and the Origins of the Wars of the Roses’ and takes place on Tuesday 9 May at 7.30 pm at Ealing Green Church, The Green W5 5QT.
Dr Ross's talk will focus on Henry VI, king of England from 1422-61, and the ways in which his priorities as king diverged sharply from what was expected of medieval monarchs, and how his fitful engagement with government - in an age of personal kingship - was perhaps the worst of all worlds for the realm he ruled. The extent to which this led to the bloody outbreak of the Wars of the Roses will be evaluated.
Non-members can attend the talk for a suggested donation of £5 with no charge for students.
