There is to be a production of Charles Dickens’ classic tale A Christmas Carol at Haven Green Baptist Church (W5 2UP) on Castlebar Road.

It is billed as a ‘rediscovery ‘ of the story by Saltmine Theatre Company, which appeals to us to “honour Christmas in our hearts, and keep it all the year round”.

Ebenezer Scrooge is the meanest, cruellest, stingiest man in London. As everyone around him is caught up with the usual festivities of sharing good cheer, Scrooge will spend his Christmas counting his piles of money until it’s all blown over. He won’t join any parties, he won’t be singing carols, and he certainly won’t give his ‘hard done by’ clerk; Bob Cratchit, the day off.

But this year, four mysterious visitors have other ideas. Confronting Scrooge with his own story, will these other-worldly guests melt his icy heart? Is there room in his life for community and generosity? Or is it too late for Ebenezer Scrooge to ever change?

Saltmine Trust is a Charity and Christian Theatre Company based in the West Midlands, which has been touring theatre and theatre in education nationally since 1980.

There is just one performance on Thursday 21 December at 7pm running for two hours.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children plus a booking fee and can be purchased online.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
