The organisers of the Hanwell Hootie have confirmed that the official attendance at this year’s event was 30,000.

People crowded into 13 venues across Ealing and Hanwell including Viaduct Meadow and the busking stage by the Clock Tower to hear a host of live acts for free last Saturday (9 May).

Other venues included The Kings Arms, The Forester, The Duke of York, The Fox, The Viaduct Pub, Dodo Micropub, Village Inn, The Green W7, Prince of Wales and the Hobbayne Centre.

Although it was a cloudy day, the rain held off allowing visitors to the free festival to move between venues without getting soaked.

Believed to be London’s largest free one-day musical festival, this year it featured over 100 acts which were narrowed down from the 1,200 which applied to take part.

Dubbed ‘The Home of Loud’ the event celebrates Jim Marshall’s amplifier which be built in Hanwell in 1962 cementing the area’s place in music legend.

The event is designed so that all the venues are walkable and food was available from food trucks in Viaduct Meadow.

Event director Andy McRobbie said, “Our mission since day one in 2013  was to showcase young and emerging talent, bring the community together and make Hanwell, for one day of the year,  the number one music destination for live music in the capital. We feel we achieved these aims on Saturday so we are very happy! Onwards and upwards! ’

The Hanwell Hootie is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company
