Get Healthy This Year - Take Part in The Ealing Half Marathon

Find out more at the Healthy Living event in Ealing Shopping Centre

Runners from Ealing Eagles will be on hand to provide information about the club and the Ealing Half Marathon at a Healthy Living event on Saturday (12 May).

From 11am until 4pm in the Town Square, the Ealing Broadway centre is playing host to a variety of stalls encouraging a healthy lifestyle. And the Eagles – who are backing the inaugural Ealing Half Marathon on Sunday 30 September this year - have secured a stand. They are encouraging keen runners and complete beginners alike to pay a visit.

Club chairman Alan Brown said: “Many people start running on their own but then hit a point where they struggle to improve.

“Often beginners are reluctant to join running clubs because they think the members will be too serious. But runners of all abilities are welcome at the Eagles and you’ll always find someone who runs at a similar pace.

“The friendly, social atmosphere and help of clubmates can really help you improve.”

The club is keen to get as many people as possible taking on the challenge of the Ealing Half Marathon, which launches in London’s Olympic year.

Race director Kelvin Walker said: “A half marathon is a great challenge and completing one is a really rewarding experience.
“With more than four months until race day, there’s time even for complete beginners to put in the required training.
“Anyone who wants to know more can pay us a visit on Saturday.”

The race is supporting Epilepsy Action, which campaigns for and offers assistance to the UK’s estimated 600,000 epilepsy sufferers, their family, friends and carers.
Vest partner Xempo will be leading groups aiming to hit target times ranging from 1hr 30mins to 2hrs 15mins, while the event is supported by local partners Move Clinics, Quit The Gym and Bodyline Studios.

Representatives of the latter will also be at Saturday’s Healthy Living event, organised by Ealing Business Improvement District (BID).
Local health and beauty businesses will be offering services such as health checks, head and neck massages, threading and mini-makeovers.
Visitors can also sample healthy smoothies from Freshh, or sign up to Shop Local for a free goodie bag.
