'Feel karma' stress management workshop at TVU, 30th April
We all get stressed. But if we don’t learn to cope, the results are serious.
Stress is of course a killer, but did you know it can also make you gain
weight? Reduce your stress, and you not only help your health but also
your waistline.
If you are looking for help locally, contact The Stress Management Society
for details about its ‘Feel Karma’ stress management workshops.
Held in Ealing and Harrow, they teach natural ways to tackle tension effectively,
including: self hypnosis; creative visualization; yoga and massage that
can done unobtrusively at work; proper breathing; and good health and
nutrition.
The next Ealing workshop is on Saturday 30 April at Thames Valley University
(St Mary’s Road). The full day’s training costs £99, or £79
for a wide range of concessions, including those who work in highly stressful
jobs such as in the health service, caring professions or the emergency
services.
Managing Director of the Stress Management Society, Neil Shah, says: “Last
year stress cost the UK economy over 13 million days, high staff turnover,
and an increasing number of legal cases against employers.”
“Many people know that stress is bad for your health. But it’s also a
contributing factor to gaining weight. When you are stressed, the body
releases glucose into the system to help you prepare for a fight or flight
situation. However if you don’t use the energy, it gets stored back in
the body as fat, particularly around the abdomen.”
“So the good news is that if you learn to cope better with tension, you
not only improve your health and quality of life, but you can help keep
your figure trim too!”
