Next tournament Saturday 19th November

As if she isn't busy enough already Brentford Festival organiser and Ealing's very own Linda Massey has got involved in a new event!

In January this year I was invited to my first live boxing tournament which was organised by the Hanwell School of Boxing. This club is based near Boston Manor Tube and is currently undergoing a major refurbishment which will soon be completed. The club itself attracts people from the age of 10 up to 30 from across many boroughs.

I went to the tournament with an open mind – I had only ever seen the greats (Mohamed Ali for example) fight on television and was unsure on how I would feel seeing it all happen close up. OK, so there was blood and a few swollen lips but what really impressed me was the enthusiasm of the coaches, the fighters and the support to the event of their friends and families. I am (left) hooked.

I am delighted to be involved in helping organise the next tournament and will have some of the Events Team from the Brentford Festival assisting.
