This Year's Ealing Blues Festival To Be One of Best Yet Says Founder

Summer Sunday Evening at the Ealing Blues Festival
The 2022 Ealing Blues Festival will be one of the best ever, according to the founder and artistic director of the event, musician Robert Hokum.
He was speaking shortly after the line-up for the 23-24 July event was finalised, and he added, “There have been many memorable moments over the years and I’m sure we’re going to see more of them this year.”
“The Ealing Blues Festival started as a community event as a bit of fun for a few local bands but it’s grown to become one of the best-attended blues gigs in the UK combining serious music with sheer entertainment. This year it brings to west London’s Walpole Park some of the UK’s biggest names in blues-based rock and roots music, from established performers such as Chris Jagger and Dr Feelgood’s Wilko Johnson to Emma Wilson, who’s just been voted Emerging Blues Artist of 2022 by the UK Blues Federation.
“Our ethos is to combine up-and-coming acts with established talent and to support the performers of the future. They're represented this year by the 9-18-year-olds of the Powerjam Band Project.
“Our community-based roots are reflected in the Festival’s low advance admission ticket prices.”

Highlights that Robert says to look out for include , a tribute to Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies and the birth of British blues in Ealing on 17 March 1962 marking Rock’s Diamond year, a rare London appearance by guitar player and Game of Thrones actor Wilko Johnson, who first came to prominence with Dr Feelgood the R&B band he co-founded with former Ealing resident Lee Brilleaux who died in 1994 and high camp and raucous entertainment from Britain’s ‘most outrageous’ all-female band, The Vampirettes.
