The perfect aperitif for the Summer Festival
Let's Drink to the Ealing Beer Festival's new home. The largest locally-organised festival of real ale in London is being held in two massive marquees in the middle of Walpole Park from 2nd to 5th July 2008.
The festival will act as a prelude to the main Ealing Summer festivals and with more than 170 different draught real ales from all over Great Britain it is set to be the perfect aperitif.
Look out for ones from minute new micro-breweries to a large national; from Twickenham to Aviemore. And some new beers will be premiering at the festival.
The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) tells us they will have a range of bottled and draught beers from Europe, America and Australia, and traditional English and Welsh ciders and perries. In all there will be more than 250 drinks to taste.
Food is also on the menu with Northfields Avenue-based Bronek once again providing Bigosh. Hog Roast will be in attendance as will Biltong who will supply spicy meats and beer battered fish. Soft drinks, water, crisps, etc are also available.
"We are very pleased to have our festival opened by the head brewer for Suffolk based Greene King, John Bexon, at 1pm on the 2nd July," said CAMRA spokesperson. "John has also very kindly agreed to answer questions from festival visitors."
Pub games, tombola, book and clothing stalls, RealAle.Com, SPBW, the CAMRA products, membership and the information stand all add to the friendly atmosphere that is the Ealing Beer Festival. For the underage members of the family Balloon Platoon will be in attendance.
The designated charity for the festival is Ealing Crossroads Caring for Carers who will be there on Friday 4th July.
Entry to the festival costs £3 with discounted admission of £2 for CAMRA members, Freedom Card holders and students with current NUS cards. CAMRA members arriving before 4pm will gain free admission.
