Ealing Art Group at Pitzhanger Manor


97th annual exhibition features retrospective of the work of Wally Walduck

Ealing Art Group are holding their 97th annual exhibition this month at the Pitzhanger Manor Gallery.

The exhibition will be opened by the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohammad Aslam at 6.45pm on Thursday 8th November accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs Majeeda Aslan.

The exhibition will featuring a retrospective exhibition of work by local artist D.E (Wally) Walduck (1920-95) and a raffle for an original piece of art.

Wally was an active member of Ealing Art Group for many years.

Born in 1920 in Colindale, Wally studied first at the Willesden School of Art, then gained a scholarship to the Royal Academy Schools. Moving to Ealing after serving in Egypt with the RAF, he became a freelance illustrator, including Dan Dare in the Eagle comic and part time teacher in adult education.

Wally worked in various mediums with the majority of his work being watercolour and wash and line. The works displayed represent his three major genre: wildlife paintings, especially waterfowl, nudes and landscapes. He liked to put the subject, i.e. bird or animal, into its correct environment and many of the landscapes also included ducks or geese.

He was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Council Member of the Society of Graphic Artists, Member of the Society of Wildlife Artists and of the RSPB, the Wildfowl Trust and the British Waterfowl Association.

The exhibition opens to the public on 9th November and can be seen on the following dates and times:

Friday 9th 12.00-8.30pm
Saturday 10th 10.00am-4.30pm
Sunday 11th 11.00am-4.00pm
