Ealing Amnesty Plan Valentine Day Demonstration

Calling for an end to human rights abuse in Zimbabwe

Ealing residents and members of the Ealing Amnesty International Group will hold a demonstration outside the Zimbabwean Embassy (426 Strand, London) on 14 February 2012, 12-2pm.

The group's Valentine Day demonstration will be held in solidarity for the Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA) movement in Zimbabwe which, since its formation in 2003, has provided a united voice against the social, economic and human rights abuses in the country.

Ealing activists will call upon the Zimbabwean High Commission to end human rights abuses against WOZA members who attempt to protest peacefully.

These abuses have included harassment, beatings and arrests. The group welcome any supporters to join them in their demonstration on 14 February. Amnesty International, a global campaigning movement with more than 3 million supporters, members and activists, works to promote and protect human rights.

The local Ealing branch, founded in 1972, is a friendly, active and dedicated group of 30 local Ealing residents. Their activities involve raising awareness of Amnesty's work and specific campaigns, fundraising and letter-writing.

The group meet on the second Saturday of each month, from 2:30pm-4:30pm, at the Questor's Theatre, Mattock Lane.
