Severe Weather Warning As Snow Grips the Capital

Snow has been falling overnight and is expected to carry on tomorrow across the London region.

The Met office say some parts can expect up to 10cm deep which will undoubtedly cause disruption to travel networks. 

Eveyone is advised to allow more time for journeys and to check travel arrangements.  

Ealing council say salt-spreading vehicles will work through the night to ensure main roads are kept clear.

Residents are being advised to take precautions, spreading salt on paths, and checking on elderly neighbours.

Schools have been informed about the weather warning and althought Friday is the last day of the term, parents are advised to contact their school in the morning before heading out.

The cold snap is set to ease next week, disappointing those hoping for a White Christmas.

A Met office spokesman said: “At the moment it looks like the cold weather will last into the weekend and early next week but it will probably start to feel warmer again into the latter half of next week.

“Early indications are that we’ve got milder weather pushing up, so it’s looking like anything that falls over Christmas is likely to be wet rather than white.”
