Man injured during raid at supermarket

A 63 year old security guard has been assaulted and raiders made off with cash during a robbery at Waitrose in West Ealing this morning.

Police were called at approximately 06:51hrs to the store on Alexandria Road, W13.

The man who had been delivering money to one of the HSBC machines was attacked and money taken.

Ambulance officers attended and he was taken to a West London hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

A Waitrose spokesman said: '' We immediately called the police and looked after the security guard who was understandably shaken by the experience. We're very grateful that nobody was hurt more seriously and wish the guard a speedy recovery.''

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing
