More upset caused by felling in Ealing
Ealing Today has been contacted by a number of people concerned that several healthy trees on Longfield Avenue in the town centre have been removed.
The felling work at the Dickens Yard site has caused upset and follows the removal of diseased Horse Chesnuts on the Common.
In this case however there was nothing wrong with the trees.
A spokesperson from the developers St George has sent us this statement:
"We can confirm that Longfield Avenue was partially closed on Sunday 30 May 2010 in order to remove four trees.This is part of the planning permission granted by the London Borough of Ealing for Dickens Yard.
"We had to remove the trees so that we can begin the piling work for the first part of the development. This will include 70 new affordable homes for the active elderly together with the foundations for the underground public car park.
"Over time, we will be planting more trees across the site as part of creating a green and sustainable development for Ealing town centre.''
