Ealing Police Chief Questioned Over Rape Allegations

Investigation underway following complaints

Ealing's Police Commander has been questioned on suspicion of rape and assault.

The Daily Mirror reports that Chief Supt Sultan Taylor, 50, was interviewed under caution on Thursday after a woman complained that she was attacked in 2007.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission asked the Herts force to carry out "an investigation into the allegations".

He has not been arrested.

The father-of-three is one of only two Asian borough commanders in the Met.

Mr Taylor, who took command in November 2007, has recently been on a training course and was waiting to hear about a new position.

Acting Chief Superintendent Ian Jenkins is currently in charge.

Ealing Today requested a statement and this has just been received:

''The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is aware of an investigation into a serving MPS police officer by Hertfordshire Constabulary, which is being managed by the IPCC.

The MPS Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) has been informed as matter of course. The officer is not suspended.

Some local restrictions have been put in place and these will be kept under review.''
