More money for playing fields in Pitshanger and Northolt
Two sports grounds in Ealing are geared up for much welcome makeovers after receiving new funding.
A new sports pavilion for Pitshanger Football Club at Scotch Common Fields in Pitshanger Park will include changing rooms and community space for the club’s 300 members.
Meanwhile, a new sporting facility and artificial grass pitch will be installed at Lord Halsbury Memorial Playing Fields in Northolt.
The Football Foundation, the Mayor of London’s Facility Fund and John Lyon’s Charity have awarded the grants.
Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “It is brilliant that so many organisations have got behind these two projects and we thank them for their generous contributions.
“The support for these developments is a fantastic boost for grassroots sport in Ealing and I hope it will inspire more people of all ages and abilities to get involved, especially in the legacy of this year’s Olympic and Paralympic games.”
Paul Thorogood, chief executive of the Football Foundation, said: “Ealing Council, Pitshanger Football Club and Larkspur Rovers Football Club have worked diligently to secure this funding, and I am thrilled to see their hard work rewarded.”
The work at Lord Halsbury Memorial Playing Fields is due to be completed in early 2013, which will coincide with the start of work at Scotch Common.
