Ealing Specials Saving Lives

Police help vulnerable woman who attempted suicide

Police 'Specials' working in Ealing Town Centre have helped save a woman who'd tried to kill herself.

The newly formed team of seven work alongside regular police officers from Ealing Broadway Safer Neighborhoods Team.

During their first assignment the team traced a high risk missing person who had swallowed cut razor blades and sleeping pills. The missing woman was found in central Ealing and placed under the care of London Ambulance Service.

During another assignment, one member of the Ealing Broadway Town Centre Team, Special Constable Aruna Kanadia assisted PS Paul Lamb with the arrest of an abusive female in the town centre.

The Specials tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the city centre and shopping malls.

PS James Rawlinson of Ealing Broadway Safer Neighbourhoods Teams said:

''We welcome the additional police resources. We will be able to provide a reassuring presence on a more regular basis within the Town Centre. This will deter criminals and make people feel safe.''
