Ealing Biodiversity Awards Celebrate Greener Gardens

Residents, schools, and community groups across Ealing have been recognised for their efforts to promote biodiversity through creative gardening and green space projects. The winners of the 2025 Ealing Biodiversity Awards were announced at a ceremony held at Ealing Council’s headquarters on 10 September, with certificates presented by the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly.

Organised by Cultivating Ealing in partnership with Ealing Council and ActForEaling, the competition invited entries from front gardens, allotments, schools, and community spaces. Judges praised the imaginative use of space, pollinator-friendly planting, and features such as bug hotels, wildlife corridors, and hedgehog doors.

Front Gardens

Councillor Paul Driscoll, cabinet member for climate action, praised the entrants for their commitment to nature and community wellbeing. Debbie Fogarty, chair of Cultivating Ealing, noted the increase in entries and the high standard of submissions, particularly among school gardens.

The awards form part of Ealing’s wider climate action strategy, which encourages residents to reimagine their outdoor spaces as biodiversity-friendly environments. More information about the competition and future participation is available at ActForEaling’s website.
