Open Morning at Durston House School

Visit the school as it celebrates its 125th anniversary

Durston House – the well-known Ealing preparatory school for boys aged 4-13 – will be opening its doors on Tuesday 17th May when the Summer Term Open Morning for prospective parents takes place.

The school is currently celebrating its 125th anniversary – which makes it as old a brand name as Coca-Cola – and the place certainly packs plenty of fizz! The school’s strapline promises ‘a great spirit of community. . . a real pride in achievement’. Although quite large by preparatory school standards, with about four hundred pupils, Durston prides itself on its ‘family’ atmosphere. A very active Parents’ Association, and plenty of informal parental gatherings, complement the business of education with a conviviality that one does not always associate with school life.

Durston is non-selective at its initial entry point, and so its position in the current Sunday Times Parent Power top 100 Prep Schools list (4th in the ‘boys only’ schools) speaks volumes for what is achieved. Pupils certainly develop a passion for recognising and developing their own talents, and there is always a spirit of celebration about the place. The boys are extremely supportive of each other in all spheres of school life; and there is much more to Durston than the pursuit of academic achievement – although pupils at the school do particularly well on the latter count.

In the past five years Durston pupils have been awarded a Scholarship to Eton, 7 John Colet Scholarships to St Paul’s, 14 Foundation Scholarships to St Paul’s, an Academic Scholarship to Harrow, an Academic Scholarship to City of London School, a Chapel Centenary Award at Bloxham, a Music Scholarship, 2 Music Exhibitions and 2 Outstanding Talent (Sport) Scholarships to Harrow, and an All-Rounder Scholarship to The John Lyon School.

Please telephone the Registrar on 020 8991 6532 for details of the Open Morning or for a visit to the school. info@durstonhouse.org
