Ealing Police and Public Recognised For Bravery

Officers and members of the public get awards

Ealing Police officers and three members of the public have been awarded for bravery during a special ceremony.

Commander Chief Superintendent Sultan Taylor paid tribute to the outstanding courage and professionalism of all the police officers, staff and the members of the public.

Example of personal bravery and professionalism were shown when two members of the public, Jabrail and Abida Karim and Police Constables - Paul Diamond, Ravi Canhye, and Victoria Price worked together to saved a man from drowning in the Grand Union Canal.

Another recipient, PC Graeme Finlay, was recognised for the work he did in an operation that led to the arrests of three people for a series of cash machine thefts in Ealing Broadway.

Ch. Supt. Sultan Taylor said:

"Once again I am delighted and honoured to be able to commend my officers and police staff for acts of heroism, bravery and true professionalism.

Today, I have also awarded commendations to several members of the public who have assisted officers and victims. I am extremely proud to be the Borough Commander in Ealing, especially on a day like today.

''Ealing Borough should be proud of the achievements of everyone who received an award today and by the actions of police officers and staff and members of the public, it is my aim to do everything we can to reduce crime and bring those who commit crime to justice and make Ealing the safest Borough in London".

Ealing Deputy Mayor John Ross echoed his views by saying:

"Today we have heard many examples of incredible commitment and bravery from police officers, staff and members of the public. Police in Ealing have demonstrated once more that they do their job professionally. It is an honour to be here today".

Stephen Pound MP added: "It is very humbling for an MP to hear these tales of heroism and I can't help thinking when most of us run away from danger police officers run toward it. This takes real courage".
