Residents urged to inform the police if 'gunman' is spotted

Residents in Hanwell have reported seeing a man taking pot-shots at pigeons and removing bags of dead birds - sparking fears of an official cull.

Locals from the High Lane Estate, claim they witnessed the man with a rifle on the rooftop of Dee Court. The also say they saw several bags of birds being taken away in a van.

Local Councillor, Colm Costello (Hobbayne) was informed of the incidents in July and submitted a question to the Council - who have denied any involvement.

A Council spokesperson has told Ealing Today :

'' Neither council workers or contractors have been involved in shooting pigeons at High Lane Estate, or anywhere else in the borough.

''A contractor was hired earlier this year to clean roofs at the estate, but he was certainly not carrying a gun.

''We urge residents to report any sightings of fire arms to the police so the matter can be investigated.”
